Understanding the Three Important Dimensions of the Community

of Common Destiny for All Mankind

Abstract: Reviewing the new concept of "community of common destiny for all mankind" from the perspective of international relations theory will help us to understand more clearly that it is a complex system consisting of core ideas or vision, theoretical discourse or strategy, and major institutional representation or strategic action. In this regard, we must be soberly aware that the new concept of "community of common destiny for all mankind" is obviously in a beginning stage. The "Belt and Road" strategy is the first (economic) diplomatic strategy or action with significant international or regional influence proposed by the Chinese government since the reform and opening up. This means that we need not only be aware that it is clearly different from the strategy of "keeping a low profile" adopted in the early 1990s, but also must proactively take into account the influence its implementation will almost certainly have on the international relations, society and politics. What is more important and also more challenging is that in order to get the "Belt and Road" initiative to become a symbolic practice of building a "community of common destiny for all mankind" and its discourse or strategy, we must take full account of their internal fitness or consistency.
